Big Stax 500 (Day 3): Bateman Builds Up

Level 30 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/15,000)
Players Remaining: 6
Chip Average: 6,200,000

Craig Bateman would open the pot for a raise to 120,000, with Jose Montes three-betting out of the big blind to 450,000.  Bateman would make the call and the two would see the dealer put out a flop of 7♣ 3♠ 4.  Montes would lead the flop for 425,000, with Bateman making the call.  The action would go check-check when the board paired with the 7.  Montes would lead out once more for 400,000 after the A♠ on the river, and Bateman stared for a long while, almost looking as if he was contemplating calling.  Craig clearly had other ideas though as he put in a raise to 1,700,000, which made Montes start talking to himself.  He would cut out his chips and look to see what remained if he called, and eventually he would do just that.  Bateman would turn over 3 3 for a flopped set and turned full house, leaving Montes to smile and shake his head.
